I got a new toy!

One of our favorite past times here at C’ville Bike is perusing the Quality Bicycle Products catalog for new and fun things to waste…er…spend money on.

Like any normal person, I value music both on and off the bike. However using an iPod can turn into a somewhat sketchy situation when you consider that having both earbuds in drowns out the sound of the world around you. Many people’s answer to this is simply to put in only one earbud so you have half your ability to hear. I, as usual, have a much better solution: the IHome bicycle speaker.

This thing rips! It is the size of a water bottle and weighs roughly 2 pounds. Therefore it mounts right to your water bottle cage bolts and easily comes on and off to prevent theft when you park, say, on the Downtown Mall overnight. It comes with a removable remote control as well which mounts right on your handlebars. Any IPod, except for the shuffle, will fit into the unit.

Does it get loud enough? Yes! Does it skip or have static? No! Mine has survived trips through the O-Hill Trails so far. Is it cool? Yes! Do you need one? Yes! It will even help you make friends.

Expect these things to hit the shelf at C’ville Bike + Tri within a week!
