Specialized Henge SL Saddle Review

Henge SL = Awesome

Specialized introduced the new Henge SL saddle for their 2010 Performance XC/Trail line. I rode it this weekend for a few hours and was extremely pleased with its overall performance. At 224 grams it weighs nearly the same as the Specialized Phenom SL (also a Performance MTB saddle weighing 211 grams). The best part is, you don’t run the certainty of getting a cist on tender areas as a result of riding the Henge SL. It’s sufficiently, but not overly, padded and provides a solid platform on which to find a sweet spot to sit and pedal. The only limitation I encountered was the overall length of the saddle. It is relatively short compared to other Specialized saddles so there is not a ton of fore-aft area to shift around on.
On a scale of 1-10 (1 being riding the top of the seatpost and 10 being, in my opinion, the ever wonderful Specialized Rival SL saddle) I would rate the Henge SL as an 8. Try it, love it; your undercarriage will thank you.
