Everyone has their own unique way to maximize their activity. It is our job to help you achieve this.

Basic Fit

This is the fundamental fit process that everyone who owns a bicycle, regardless of where you bought it, should go through. We consider past, present, and future goals along with personal anatomy in order to fine tune the parameters of your bicycle to fit you. Manual measurements are taken to establish proper saddle height, fore/aft position, and handlebar reach/drop. These measurements are based on established values of knee angle and position as well as back and elbow angles. The basic fit also includes a thorough cleat adjustment. This fit will typically require 1 hour.

Cost of Basic Fit: $75

Performance Fit

This fit is designs for high mileage riders, competitors, or individuals with a history of cycling pain or discomfort. We begin with the Specialized Body Geometry 18-step pre-assessment to identify possible limitations with inflexibilities, leg length discrepancies, or biomechanical asymmetries. It is important to go through this procedure to ensure that the rider can put maximum power into the bicycle while minimizing the risk of injury as a result of pre-existing conditions that may go overlooked.

We then use the Retul Motion Capture System to dial in the rider’s position to the millimeter. Retul is the most accurate fitting tool available because it uses dynamic motion capture. Dynamic data capture is far superior to static measurements. It enables the fit specialist to analyze data derived from the rider throughout their natural movement pattern.

For Triathletes this system is especially important. By taking exact measurements of the upper body position, including elbow and torso angles, we can quantitatively derive what the most aerodynamic position will be.

Mountain Bikers also benefit from this system because the dynamic data output alows us to measure exactly how the rider’s body moves in relation to the suspension of their bicycle.

This fit will typically require 2-3 hours.

Cost of Performance Fit: $200

Cost of fits does not include additional parts or equipment. Labor will be charged for cable routing, bar cutting, or any other service which must be completed by the service department.

I’m a Woman. How is my will my fit be different?

While the ultimate goals of the fit are the same, there are certain considerations unique to women. Women tend to ride with different saddle width and build than men. In addition, it is not uncommon for women cyclists to need narrower handlbars, shorter crank arms, or a shortened reach to their brake/shifter levers. To accomodate for women’s shoe fit needs we also carry a full line of road and mountain shoes from Specialized Designs for Women.

I’m a Triathlete. How will my fit be individualized to my goals.

As a triathlete you specialize in three different sports. It is our goal to make sure you can compete at your peak while remaining injury free. Triathletes need to be positioned in the most powerful position for a sustained effort while still maintaining maximal aerodynamics. In addition, it is important to ensure that positioning allows for overall leg development so that the bike helps and does not hinder the running portion of the event. Fits for triathletes tend to take a bit longer as they involve both handlebar and aerobar position.

I’m a Mountain Biker. How will my fit be individualized to my goals.

It is necessary to include the proper adjustment of front/rear shock pressures in every mountain bike fit. This will change how the rider sits on the bicycle. The fit specialist must also take into account the control aspect of a mountain bike as riders are constantly descending and climbing over uneven terrain.
